June-O

June Orientation (June-O) is a two-day experience where you will familiarize yourself with 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 #########, learn about opportunities and campus resources, and meet faculty, current students, and your first-year peers!

All new 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 #########ians will attend both June-O and Aug-O. You will leave June-O with your fall class schedule and will feel more prepared for a successful start when you return to campus in the fall. Parents and adult family members are encouraged to attend our concurrent June-O for Families program.

Why June-O?

Establish a relationship with a mentor team consisting of a faculty member and a current student to ease your transition into college;
Learn about the academic policies, procedures, and expectations of 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 #########, including the General Education (GE) program, and majors and minors.
Set your fall course schedule!
Meet your fellow classmates so you see familiar faces when you come to campus in the fall.

All incoming domestic first-year students will register for one of our five June-O sessions (4 on-campus, 1 virtual). Students must be available for both days of their session as they will be working with a faculty advisor and orientation leader on advising and course registration throughout that time. International students still residing in their native country will register for a Virtual June-O for Students Coming from Abroad session.

June-O 2023 Session Dates

These sessions are offered in-person for domestic students and virtually for students coming from abroad.

Session 1: Wednesday, June 7 and Thursday, June 8, 2023
Session 2: Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, 2023
Session 3: Tuesday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 14, 2023
Session 4: Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17 2023

While we encourage all domestic students to attend a June-O session hosted on campus, we will also offer a virtual session:

Session 5: Wednesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 22, 2023

See schedules from our 2023 programs below. The start and end times of programs will remain the same. Students and their families should plan on arriving on campus by 11:30 a.m. on Day 1 and should not plan to depart campus before 12:30 p.m. on Day 2.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where will I stay?

Students participating in an on-campus session must stay on campus overnight in our residence halls as part of the program. A linen packet containing sheets, a pillow, pillowcase, blanket, towel, and washcloth will be provided.

Families may stay at the Cherry Valley Hotel in the June-O guest room block ($149 per night weekdays; $159 per night weekends - 7 minute drive to campus). Transportation to and from Cherry Valley will be provided if you do not have a car. Call 740-788-1200 and ask for the 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### Orientation room block to reserve your room.

Families may also choose to stay in other area accommodations, but please note that we will not be able to provide shuttle service to and from campus.

Is there an advantage in course selection if I attend an earlier session?

Students have an equal opportunity to choose classes regardless of session. Attending an earlier session does not put students at an advantage for course registration.

What disability accommodations can you provide?

必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### is committed to providing access for all people with disabilities and will provide accommodations if notified in advance. Students participating in a virtual session who do not have access to a computer or high-speed internet should contact the Office of First-Year Experience at firstyear@denison.edu.

I am an international student who cannot attend an in-person session. How do I register for classes?

We will hold virtual June-O for students coming from abroad sessions via Zoom. Students will be paired with a faculty and orientation leader, just as they are during our on-campus June-O programs. All students coming from abroad must register for one of these sessions, and they are free of charge.

What will June-O cost?

The fee for a student to participate in an on-campus session is $300.00. This fee covers the cost of orientation materials, student on-campus lodging, linens, food, and up to two adult family member guests. Family members will stay off campus (see Where Will I 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址：? FAQ).

Students who are part of the Questbridge or 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 #########-Columbus Alliance programs, as well as students with eligible financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid, will have all fees waived. If it is determined adult family members have eligible financial need, their room at Cherry Valley may also be covered. Please contact firstyear@denison.edu for more information.

I will need to fly to Ohio for June-O. Will there be an airport shuttle, and what time of day should I schedule my flights?

Students should plan to arrive on campus no later than 11:30 a.m. on Day 1, and depart no earlier than 12:30 p.m. on Day 2 of their program.

You should indicate in your June-O registration form in your enrollment checklist whether you will need a ride from the John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH). The Office of First-Year Experience will contact those requesting a shuttle to collect travel information and assign a shuttle time prior to their session.

Day 1 shuttles will leave the airport between 9 and 11 a.m. ET. Day 2 shuttles will depart campus between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Please note that family members staying at the Cherry Valley Hotel will be brought directly to campus from the airport. We will be able to store your bags until shuttles leave for the hotel in the evening.
