BFA Kristi King '14 uses papermaking to create worlds

Alumni

We are highlighting alum BFA Kristina King ‘14 today!

Kristi says of her time at 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 #########, “I graduated from 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### in 2014 with a BFA. As a student, I was given the opportunity to work in the Studio Art department as the Bryant Gallery Assistant. That job gave me the real-world experience I needed after graduation and led me to manage a non-profit art gallery space less than a year after graduating. Other opportunities within the Studio Art Department —such as applying for the BFA track— prepared me well for other art competitions. The feedback and guidance I received from my art professors helped me to learn how to make art independently, and to sustain an art career after graduation in a self-motivated manner. My discussions with my Senior Research Advisors Ron and Micaela led me to discover my current medium, papermaking. I also think that a lot of people who go to 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### (as opposed to going strictly to an art school) are inherently interdisciplinary and interested in many areas of study. 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### teaches students how to write and speak effectively. And those are skills that you use every day as an artist; in order to get what you want, you have to be able to research, write, and communicate well.”
