Bonjour! My name is Caleb DeLong and I am a senior from the beautiful city of Zanesville, Ohio. I¡¯m a French and International Studies double major focusing my research on ¡°What It Means To Be French: ¡®Otherness¡¯, Post Colonial Beauty Standards, and Miss France.¡± Apart from being an International Studies Senior Fellow I work as a Teaching Assistant in the Modern Languages department, serve as the Vice President and PR Chair of Outlook, and most recently had the pleasure of being an Aug-O leader. Upon graduation in the spring I hope to continue on to law school and eventually work within immigration law.

I’m Jillian Plas, a senior from Elyria, Ohio! I am focusing my studies on European politics and minoring in French. My favorite things to learn about in international studies classes are migration, Eastern European politics, and learning how the past informs the present. I love to learn about the ways that people form resistance movements under adverse conditions and I hope to use my degree to reduce those conditions and help people thrive. When I’m not in the classroom I work at the front desk of the library, so stop in and say hi! When I’m not working, I like to go on hikes, learn about prehistoric humans, and make macrame wall hangings!

I’m Fatoumata Sow, though everyone calls me Fatou. I am an International Studies major and Psychology minor. I am co-president of the Muslim Student Association and have worked at the Financial Aid office for the past four years. I grew up in Guinea, Conakry, in West Africa, and that is where my passion for the economic and social development of African countries comes from. I am studying off-campus with the Washington Center in the fall of 2021. While in D.C. I am using my Spanish language skills and previous experiences to understand multinational companies¡¯ role in international trade. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, hanging out with friends, and hiking.

My name is Dulcie Heyes; I¡¯m a junior majoring in International Studies with an academic concentration in the Middle East and North Africa. I am a member of the varsity women¡¯s soccer team and the rowing club at ±Ø²©ÓéÀÖ,±È²©ÓéÀÖÍøÖ· #########. I¡¯m a teaching assistant for Arabic and a co-founder of UNCUT, a platform for student athletes to share stories that extend beyond being an athlete. In the summer of 2021 I traveled around various places in England and Scotland while working remotely as a research intern. I plan to study abroad in Amman, Jordan during the Spring of 2022 where I will continue to learn Arabic and research media censorship laws. I love music and spending time outdoors!

Hello, my name is Sham! I’m a junior double majoring in economics and international studies with a concentration in Post-Soviet Eurasia. I was born in Tajikistan and partially grew up there before coming to the US. I first moved to Washington State and then to Ohio. Here at ±Ø²©ÓéÀÖ,±È²©ÓéÀÖÍøÖ· #########, I work several jobs and take part in various organizations. I am the events chair for DISA (±Ø²©ÓéÀÖ,±È²©ÓéÀÖÍøÖ· ######### International Student Association), I am a CA, and I work at the Bookstore, the Center for Global Programs, and the Mitchell Center. Outside of work and involvement, I love playing soccer with friends and learning about languages and cultures. As of now, I am fluent in English, Russian, and Farsi, however I’m also learning Spanish on the side.

Namaste, my name is Sawyer. I’m from Highland Park, IL. On-campus, I am involved in the Green Team (environmental club), the Latin Jazz Ensemble, and the Homestead. I plan to study abroad in Nepal next spring with the SIT program focused on Development, Gender, and Social Change. In my free time you can find me learning Nepali, tending my garden, or playing saxophone, guitar or piano (not all three at once, normally). I love cooking on a wood-fired stove for all of my friends. If you ever find yourself lost in the woods and you stumble upon the Homestead, I will cook you something too!
