Updates from Professor Emeriti Ken Bork
They say a geologist never retires - they fossilize instead - but there's no calcification accruing around Geosciences Professor Emeriti Ken Bork.
Having relocated in the American Southwest from Granville, Bork is continuing his research and travel. He shares that the Geological Society of America sent him a lapel pin and ribbon for his convention badge that stated “50 Years As a Fellow of GSA.” Bork commented, “Good Grief! I recall when Chuck Graham and Dick Mahard nominated their young (26-year old) colleague as a potential Fellow.”
Bork also was recently honored by the Executive Board of INHIGEO (International Commission on the History of Geological Sciences), which elected him as an Honorary Senior Member, the Commission's highest honor. Of the current 14 individuals worldwide, only 2 are Americans, and none in INHIGEO's 50 years have been from a liberal arts college.?
