Dr. Britt Rusert: “Fight Against White Supremacist Science"

On September 20, 2018, the Black Studies Program co-sponsored a presentation with the History Department by Dr. Britt Rusert titled “The Fight Against White Supremacist Science: from American Polygenesis to the Alt-Right.” This lecture was a part of the Donald E. Shape Lectures in American History, and was organized by 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### assistant professor of history, Adrian Young.

Rusert is Associate Professor in the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is the author of “Fugitive Science: Empiricism and Freedom in Early African American Culture” (New York University Press, 2017) and co-editor of “W.E.B. Du Bois’ Data Portraits: Visualizing Black America” (Princeton Architectural Press, 2018). Rusert’s research and teaching focus on African American literature and visual culture, Afrofuturism, speculative fiction, science and technology studies, gender and sexuality, and critical theory, especially Marxism, psychoanalysis, and black radical thought.
