Maria Barney Chair and Professor of Philosophy Anthony (Tony) J. Lisska has been recognized by Marqius Who’s Who with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

Lisska is featured as the first honoree, the Executive Spotlight in most recent publication of the organization, which recognizes remarkable individuals with distinguished lifetimes of achievement.

Educated at Providence 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址, graduating in 1963 with an AB degree (Cum Laude) in Philosophy, Lisska continued his work in philosophy, receiving anMA from St. Stephen’s 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. In addition, Lisska has a Certificate from the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University.

Lisska joined 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### University in 1969. At the University, he has twice served as chair of his department, as Dean of the 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 for a five-year period, and served as the founding Director of the Honors Program for fifteen years. He holds an endowed professorship in the Department on Philosophy and has been recognized with the Charles and Nancy Brickman Distinguished Service Chair.

Lisska served as evaluator for curriculum projects on four occasions for The National Endowment for the Humanities and has served as an external consultant for Honors Program development and philosophy department evaluation.

Lisska has written three books, “Philosophy Matters,” “Aquinas’s Theory of Natural Law: An Analytic Reconstruction,” and “Aquinas’s Theory of Perception.” Lisska’s books on Aquinas were published by Oxford University Press. He has published dozens of professional articles, papers and publications, and chaired numerous meetings, societies, and symposia.
