Biography

Abbey Lynn Smith is the resident lighting and scenic designer for the various productions throughout the Eisner Center. She is originally from Altamont, Kansas, and attended the University of Kansas before receiving her MFA in Theatre Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Abbey especially enjoys teaching student designers how to bring their designs to life through the programming of lights. Alongside her own designs, she also mentors students in their own design processes and assists them in developing practical skills outside of the classroom setting. She designs primarily for musical theatre, theatre, opera, and dance. Outside of Ohio, her design work has been seen on stages across Nebraska, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and Kansas. She was an ETC Fred Foster Mentee, a Hemsley Portfolio Review participant, and has received multiple KCACTF design awards. Though her cat is indifferent to her design work, she hopes to make Opal proud.
