Percussionists John Lane and Allen Otte present “The Innocents,” a performance art piece advocating for social justice. Now the subject of an award-winning documentary film, “The Innocents” is a dramatic soundscape comprised of seventeen individual tableaus that endeavor to explore various aspects of the issues surrounding wrongful imprisonment and exoneration in the American criminal justice system: mistaken identity, incarceration, psychology, politics, injustice, and resilience. Courtesy of the Ohio Innocence Project, a post-concert discussion and Q&A will be held with exoneree Dean Gillispie, who spent two decades in prison for crimes he did not commit, retired lawyer Alec Berezin, and the musicians.
