Reporting Options

To report incidents or alleged violations of sexual assault, sexual harassment, domestic/dating violence, stalking, sex and gender-based discrimination, or discrimination due to pregnancy:

To make a Report:

If making a report to the Title IX Director, complete this Title IX Report Form or contact the Title IX Director or a Deputy Title IX Coordinator with all known details about the incident, including name, date, location, and description.

If an employee with a duty to report under the Policy prohibiting sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, stalking and retaliation is using this form to fulfill a duty to report, please include all known details about the incident, including (1) name of the Reporting Party, accused, and witnesses; (2) date, time and location of the alleged incident; and (3) description.

Anonymous Report:

To report a concern for yourself or another student, complete the Advocate CareNetwork Report Form under the My必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 #########, Blue Whistle page. Or, contact 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### Campus Safety by completing their Anonymous Tips Form. Please note: without names and/or contact information, the University may be unable to contact you for follow up and the University’s options for response to the report will be limited.

Criminal Report:

What to Expect when Filing a Report

What to expect when: Reporting to the University

  • 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### has designated the Title IX Director to oversee complaints of sexual misconduct at the University. An individual who has experienced sexual misconduct has the right to choose whether to report the incident to 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 #########’s Title IX Director. The Title IX Director and Deputy Title IX Coordinators are specially trained to work with individuals who report sexual misconduct and have knowledge about on- and off-campus resources, services, and options — including the availability of interim protective measures and accommodations.   • You have the right to receive written information on all of your rights and options, including your rights to receive support resources, proceed with a University investigation, or to file a report with police. The University respects the needs and choices of the Reporting Party. For general information about the University’s response to a report, refer to the full Policy Prohibiting Sex Discrimination, including Sexual Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Stalking and Retaliation.

What to expect when: Reporting to Police

  • The criminal process is separate and distinct from the University process. 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### encourages individuals to report incidents of sexual misconduct to the appropriate law enforcement agency. Timely reporting to the police is an important factor in successful investigation and prosecution of crimes, including sexual violence crimes, and may lead to the arrest of an offender or aid in the investigation of other incidents. If a Reporting Party initially wants to file an anonymous police report and obtain a police report number for future consideration, the Title IX office can assist in having a report filed on the Reporting Party’s behalf.
  • Reporting the incident to the police does not mean an individual is obligated to participate in an investigation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does information about a reporting party remain private?

Typically it does. The University will maintain the privacy of all parties to a reporting party, except when it interferes with the University’s obligation to fully investigate the allegations. When privacy is not strictly kept, it will still be tightly controlled on a need-to-know basis. Sharing of information and/or written materials to persons not involved in the resolution process is not permitted. Violations of the privacy of the reporting party or responding party may lead to conduct action by the University.

In Title IX investigations, all parties will be informed of the outcome. Certain University administrators are informed of the outcome within the bounds of student privacy.

The institution must statistically report the occurrence on campus of major violent crimes, including certain sex offenses, in an annual report of the campus crime statistics. This statistical report does not include personally identifiable information.

If the reported act may constitute a felony under Ohio law, the University is required to report it to the Licking County Prosecutor and the Granville Police Department. This does not mean that charges will automatically be filed or that a reporting party must speak with the sheriff.

Can I make the report anonymously?

Yes. An individual may make an anonymous report concerning a Title IX violation without disclosing their name, identifying the responding party or requesting any action. The level of information shared and made available about the incident or the individuals involved will affect the University’s ability to respond.

The Anonymous Tips Form allows anyone to report suspected misconduct, including the suspected Title IX violations or other issues, anonymously. This service allows the person making the report and university administrators to confer about additional details, while maintaining the reporting party’s anonymity. All reports with a Title IX concern go to the Title IX Director.

Will the University tell my parents?

Generally, no. Students are encouraged to inform their parents if there are major medical or disciplinary consequences, or academic jeopardy. University officials will inform parents at the student’s request or in a life-threatening situation.

Will the University inform my supervisor?

Supervisors will not typically be informed of reports. If a supervisor must be informed because of risk in the workplace, the reporting and responding parties will be informed.

If you are a responding party and are found responsible for a violation of the Policy, your supervisor will be informed as necessary to implement any sanctions.

Will the responding party know my name?

It depends. If you request a no-contact order or a formal investigation, the responding party will know your name. If you request an informal resolution, you will be consulted about whether the responding party knows your name. If you do not want any type of process, the responding party will not know your name or that you have made a report. The only exception to this may be if the responding party appears to present an ongoing danger to the community.

Do I have to name the responding party?

No. You are not required to provide any specific information to the Title IX Director unless you would like a formal disciplinary action to be taken against the alleged assailant. Reporting parties should be aware that not identifying the responding party may limit the University’s ability to respond comprehensively.

In cases where no suspect is identified, the goal of the Title IX office is to offer supportive resources to the reporting individual.

What do I do if I am accused of sexual misconduct?

Do not contact the reporting party. You should talk with someone who can serve as a support advisor to you. You will be contacted and asked to meet with the Title IX Director. You do not need to provide any specific information to the coordinator. However, the coordinator will provide you with important information about options for support and about the process. You may also wish to talk to a confidential resource.

How do I preserve evidence?

If you experienced a sexual assault, you may go to the Licking Memorial Hospital for a rape kit. Do not shower or brush your teeth. Do not wash your clothes. Put any clothes or bedding that might contain evidence in a paper bag. If you do not wish to call the sheriff or go to the hospital, Campus Safety may store this evidence.

Save all other evidence of the event(s), including text messages, emails, notes/letters, photographs, etc.

Will a reporting party be sanctioned for using illegal drugs or alcohol?

Unless there is damage unrelated to the sexual misconduct, no disciplinary action will be taken for reporting or participating in an investigation of alleged violations of the Policy Prohibiting Sex Discrimination, Sexual Misconduct, Stalking, and Retaliation. The University does not want any circumstances (e.g., drugs or alcohol use) to inhibit reporting.

Might the use of drugs or alcohol affect the outcome of a sexual misconduct reporting party?

Drug or alcohol use does not diminish the responding party’s responsibility. However, it may be considered in determining whether the reporting party was able to give consent.

What if I’m not certain about what happened?

Contact a confidential resource on campus such as a counselor in the 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### Wellness Center, 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### medical staff, or clergy. You may also report to the Title IX Director who can walk you through next steps.

I’m afraid of retaliation if I report.

Retaliation is prohibited. The retaliation clause of the Policy will be enforced. Let the Title IX Director know about your concerns. Report any possible retaliation to the Title IX Director.
