Prof. Jack Shuler's book is winning awards

“This is Ohio,” the latest nonfiction work by 必博娱乐,比博娱乐网址 ######### University Associate Professor of English and author Jack Shuler, has been garnering recognition and collecting awards.

The book, subtitled “The Overdose Crisis and the Front Lines of a New America,” broadly examines the overdoes crisis in America through the lens of a rust-belt Ohio town, Newark.

“This is Ohio,” is the winner of the 2019-2020 Malott Price for Recording Community Activism, and the Richard Frisbie Award for Adult Nonfiction from the Society of Midland Authors.

Shuler’s countless hours in the field, learning from those on the ground level, pays off in an intimate portrayal through many layers of stories that illustrate the complexities of this issue. His research illuminates possible pathways forward as the subjects of his narrative sustain their hope and apply practical solutions in their daily lives.
